Ok, so everyone in blogland keeps talking about this new line from Denyse Schmidt ... ummm my favorite fabric designer!
Ok, so everyone in blogland keeps talking about this new line from Denyse Schmidt ... ummm my favorite fabric designer!
Then my friend Rachel was telling me about this line called "Picnic & Fairgrounds". She said it is sold exclusively at JoAnn Fabrics.
Well, I had to have some. It was not as easy as I thought it would be to find all 21 prints. I had to drag my family to quite a few Joann stores ... but I have all 21 prints!
I did not go crazy and buy the whole bolt, but I did buy a few yards of each. I know how hard it was to find all the fabrics and I would like to share!
I'm giving away a fat quarter bundle of each of the 21 prints.
You'll have 5 chances to win ...
1: Follow my blog by becoming one of "My Peeps".
2: Leave me a comment telling me what you would make if you won these fat quarters.
3. Being a country girl, we like county "fairs". Tell me where your county fair is.
4: Tell me your best "picnic" memory.
5: Spread the word via twitter, facebook or your blog.
The winner will be drawn on Friday!
I'm not sure what I would make.....maybe one of the more modern quilt patterns.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Atascosa County, Texas.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picnic was a picnic in Central Park in New York City to celebrate my granddaughter's first birthday! I carried a birthday cake and all the decorations for the cake several hundred miles and decorated the cake right there on the picnic blanket.
ReplyDeleteI am already a follower! Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteI already own 4 DS fabrics from Katie Jump Rope so I would add these beauties to mine and make a Wonky Log Cabin.
ReplyDeleteMy best picnic memory...My twin boys were aged 8 at the time (they are 27 now)and my daughter was 13 and we had just started to eat the lovely sandwiches they had made when two gigantic dogs came running over a hill and jumped right into the middle of our picnic and then proceeded to take off with most of it. No owner in sight.
ReplyDeleteMy county fair is in Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia and is celebrating 127th anniversary.
ReplyDeleteour country fair is held at our local fair grounds; I love going. best picnic memory? my dad climbing an apple tree in an orchard, falling out of the tree and dislocating his shoulder. we all told him he deserved it because he ignored the no trespassing signs lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower.
I tweeted your giveaway
ReplyDeleteI am a happy follower.
ReplyDeleteWell, as my blog says, we've transplanted to a major metro area. There is no county fair here at all. No 4-H. I guess the kids are busy with other stuff. We usually go home to Indiana to my mom's fair where she enters stuff in the adult sewing class.
ReplyDeleteHhhmm..I guess it was our first picnic w/ our son at a rest area in southern IL on our way to SC. He thought it was so funny to sit on the ground and eat.
ReplyDeleteWhat would I make? I don't know if I'd leave them all together or break them up a bit and make a few bags (I love bags) and use the rest in a QOV quilt.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog!
ReplyDeleteI would make a beautiful quilt with the material.
ReplyDeleteThe last fair I went to was the Common Ground Fair in Unity, Maine.
ReplyDeleteMy best picnic memory was 27 years ago when I was pregnant with my second daughter. My husband and oldest daughter and I went to Acadia National Park in Maine. We went to a little place called Pretty Marsh. It was such a beautiful day and had so much fun. When we came home my husband even wrote all about it in my oldest daughters baby book. She was about 22 months old.
ReplyDeleteI'm now a follower!
ReplyDeleteMy county fair is at the Fairfield County Fairgounds in Lancaster, OH
ReplyDeleteIf I won these fat quarters I would make a log cabin quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy best picnic memory is one of my first dates with my husband. I had jaw surgery at the very beginning of summer and I couldn't drive because of the medication. When I finally was off of my medicine I packed us a picnic and drove down to his house. He was surprised and he took me out to a beautiful spot in one of his hay fields where we could see the sun set. It was perfect and he even loved me with my swollen face :)
ReplyDeletejust spread the word on my fb page!
ReplyDeleteMy fair is the pickaway county fair, but my students show at the Ross county fair!
ReplyDeleteI now follow your blog!
ReplyDeleteMy county fair is at the Muskingum County Fairgounds in Zanesville, OH .
ReplyDeleteI love this line they will not be carrying it at the Jo Ann’s in Zanesville, OH. I would definitely use them for a quilt!

ReplyDeleteDefinitely would have to put these colors into a quilt!
ReplyDeleteOur Jo Daviess County Fair is located in Warren, Il which is 7 minutes from our home. My son is big into raising chickens. He was asked to be a judge and declined since it would make him unable to compete! ;)
ReplyDeleteBest picnic memory would be with my son when he was about 4 years old. We own an empty half a block in a small rural town within walking distance of our house. We would take our afternoon lunch, a quilt to throw on the ground, and one of his favorite stories to read. It seems a million years ago now, but we sure did have some wonderful afternoons.

ReplyDeleteI would make a zigzag quilt...with white...
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I love this fabric! I was only able to find 9 of the prints. Bolts disappear almost daily at my Joann's! My husband and I are trying to conceive our first child right now. If we have a girl, I want to use this fabric for the nursery. =)

ReplyDeleteThese remind me of summer. I think I would make a fun small quilt to keep in the car for the days you just kind of end up at the park.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite county fair is actually the next county over from me - the Evergreen State Fair (it's actually a county fair, even though it has "state" in the name). I was in 4-H as a child, and showed there every summer. Ahhh, I love the fair!
ReplyDeleteJackson County Minnesota. Oh, the thought of it makes me feel warm.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picnic was one my uncle, an aspiring gourmet chef, prepared for us in Napa Valley.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, well when I was younger, my mom would make a huge taco salad. Then my family (mom, dad, and two sisters) would drive into Chicago and go to the free concert in Grant Park. We could run around and eat taco salad all night long.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite was the elementary school picnics.the Moms would sit at the picnic tables and bring tons of food and we were allowed to run free and ride all the rides and play all the games..such fun times...
ReplyDeleteMy best picnic memory - hmm. . . I think that would be the Easter picnic a couple of years ago with the Winds, Keiperts, and Justin, out at the beach pagoda, with the fresh air, white sugar sands, and clear Caribbean-colored waters to keep us company!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I just found it today and am now a proud follower. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics and I'm not sure quite what I'd do with them. I've been pondering making a picnic quilt and these bright, happy colors might just be perfect for that.

ReplyDeleteI would make a quilt - combining with solids or maybe white for a lap quilt. Oh yes - it would be for me or for one of the little people.
ReplyDeleteI make lots of baby quilts, so I'd probably make a baby quilt. Though it might be time to make a quilt for me. We'll see...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make some mug rugs for friends.
ReplyDeleteOur county fair is here in town. I live in a fairly rural part of North Carolina, so it can be an interesting place to visit.
ReplyDeleteOn my 10th birthday we went for a picnic in the forest close by and my mum even brought my loved "Schwarzwaeldertorte" there. Still don't know how she managed to do that with her backbag! So crazy cool and I still remember it so good!
ReplyDeleteI just became a follower!! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picnics are picnics at the beach. We love to pack up the cooler, towels, blanket, etc, and make a good morning of it.
ReplyDeleteOf course those fabrics would have to become a quilt just for ME! I LOVE DS and our Joanne's isn't carrying them!!
ReplyDeleteOur Local fair is just up the road in a tiny town called Onaga. Great times!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't really have a country fair here in town... But in october we have a huge fair for 10 days with everything and very loud. It is also very famous: Herbstmesse in Basel.

ReplyDeleteHow generous of you! Ty for the chance, I am a new follower!
ReplyDeleteI have made a couple of quilts now, I am still a newbie, but these would make a really pretty lap quilt all for me!
ReplyDeleteI think this bundle of fabric would be made into a quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy fav picnic memory is taking lunch to the foothills for a river swim with friends.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty new to the county we live in, and I have not even heard of a county fair for our county... I am hoping there will be one close by though! We are in Northern Virginia
ReplyDeleteMy best picnic memory... I think it would be a 4th of July picnic... my kids were all young still and we were outside of the Disney World area. The mood was just so festive, yet laid back and peaceful. It is a good memory!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have many county fairs here though there are lots of school fairs.
ReplyDeleteI was at my local Joann's this weekend and couldn't find any of the prints! So jealous. I would make I quilt to take to picnics and fairs for sure!

ReplyDeleteI love that fabric! It would make a fantastic picnic blanket! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretties! I'm a blog follower :-)
ReplyDeleteFollowing your blog!
ReplyDeleteI actually thought these fabrics would make a great picnic blanket for my family. Because I'm usually so busy making quilts for my etsy shop, I rarely make time to quilt for my family anymore. This would be a perfect opportunity! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI would use these fabrics to make a table cloth for my outdoor table and some pillows for the chairs :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's some beautiful fabric. I think I would use it to make a quilt for my sister, the colors are right up her alley...
ReplyDeleteOur county fair here in Benton County is in Bentonville. While I sometimes forget that I live in arkansas (because we live in northwest arkansas, where it's very diverse and highly populated with transplants), at fair time, it's pretty obvious that I live in Arkansas! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy county fair is in Tampa, FL and it's a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd my best picnic memory is taking a picnic blanket to the beach every year to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picnic memory is when my family was in hawaii on vacation when I was 12. We went hiking on some dormant volcanoes and had a picnic in a tropical forest. Very cool. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteAnd I follow your RSS feed in my reader!
ReplyDeleteHere in Scotland we have our local agricultural show instead of a county fair. The closest to me is Stewartry Agricultural Show, which is held in my local town of Castle Douglas.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.stewartryas.co.uk/
At a picnic on the beach, husband Stuart was cooking hotdogs on the camping stove, he dropped them in the sand (!) and had to wash them off in the sea. We called them salty sea dogs! They tasted great :-)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite picnics are when I traveled around Texas with my mom and grandma. Mom would bring a cooler stocked with sandwich makings. Iceberg Lettuce straight from the cooler is great on a sandwich during the steamy Texas summer.

ReplyDeletewe live in houston and i don't think we have a county fair. but several of the surrounding counties have them!
ReplyDeletemy fav picnic memory is one on the beach. my then boyfriend (now husband)was kind enough to pack a nice lunch and some champagne to celebrate my graduation from law school. and just when i thought the day couldn't get any better, he proposed!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this is my favorite memory, but it is the one I remember the most. We went to a campground on the coast of WA to spend the day with friends and have a picnic. When we left home it was 85 degrees. We (my four children, husband and I) were all in shorts and tank tops. When we arrived there with no jackets it was overcast and about 50 degrees. We all sat with blankets (borrowed) most of the day! The food was great however.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I've been dying to get my hands on this fabric! thanks for the amazingly generous giveaway. If I win, I'll make a quilt, probably for my friend who's having her first baby in a couple months. She'd love this fabric, too!

ReplyDeleteHmmm, favorite picnic memory... I had a very memorable picnic with my now husband back in 1998. I made all the plans and we hiked quite a ways and set down in a lovely corner of the horse pasture, surrounded by apple blossoms and spring foals. Then I found out he hates to eat outside! LOL
